Wasted Energy

Effort, like energy, cannot be wasted. It can be transformed from one point to the other but never lost. For that reason, we shouldn’t cry over effort that wasn’t immediately reciprocated (in work, studying or relationships) because it’s going to pay off somewhere else. That is a guaranteed promise.

I took a weird & complicated turn until I reached a place where everything became easier. I saw proof that Allah never left my side, that He was there through it all telling me that He had better plans for me. Things that never even crossed my mind.

When I was in my previous university, I put in a lot of effort & time because I knew I wanted industrial engineering. Eventually, the end of the year came & I was 1 mark away from getting into the college of engineering. Now if you asked me about this two years ago, I would’ve never been able to tell this story. It was a story of failure (to me). It didn’t take so long for this to change, eventually this became a story of blessings, good friendships & valuable lessons learnt.

Point is, I put it all my effort & energy into one place & at the time, it felt like it all ceased to exist & have gone to waste. Similarly, I didn’t put in any effort into the other place, yet saw it all come together.

This applies to life & relationships as well. Sometimes, we may put all our efforts into one person or one dream/goal but feel as though it was all just a waste of time. Sometimes people leave us, & we wonder, years later, if we wasted so much time in that tunnel, in that trench. Maybe we could’ve been someplace else with someone else. Maybe we could’ve had a different dream. Maybe, just maybe, we should’ve ended things sooner or left years ago. Maybe we shouldn’t have put in all that time.

All’s wasted, all’s gone.

But it’s not. To tell you the truth, it just shifted gears. Life’s funny that way. Our energy will be transformed and stored for bigger manifestations that we don’t even know existed yet.
